DJ Zinhle has been deemed insensitive to youth unemployment at a time when unemployment is skyrocketing.
This follows a radio program posted on social media over the weekend in which the artist and entrepreneur claimed that most young people are unemployable.
Zinhle said, “South African youth are not only unemployed, many of them are not employable.
They don’t have the necessary skills. It annoys me how long it takes for us as Era to fill positions.
Just to find the right person for our business. In a country with so much unemployment, it takes longer than it should.
DJ Zinhle, who runs fashion stores in various parts of the country, spoke amusingly about her struggle to find suitable candidates for a store she recently opened in Witbank, Mpumalanga.
Despite her obvious privilege, DJ Zinhle quickly became a hot topic on social media where she was showered with insults.
Some asked what job she was struggling to fill as she only needed salespeople, a job that anyone with an education could do, while others criticized her for the carelessness of her statement, according to ZiMoja.
She faced the wrath of social media users. In a clever move to protect her brand, DJ Zinhle wasted no time in issuing an online apology.
She cleverly tried to justify herself and make it clear that she had no intention of attacking young people.
DJ Zinhle apologizes; read below
I’m glad we are talking about this.
Firstly. I apologize if I offended anyone.
I wasn’t attacking the youth at all, as a small business owner I do employ & train people, but this doesn’t even start to solve the problems we are facing as the South African youth. I could do more…
