Arsenal travel to St. Mary’s on Saturday to face Southampton in the fourth round of the FA Cup and begin the next phase of their title defence.

Mikel Arteta’s side could have been eliminated in the first round had it not been for Andy Carroll’s blunder and Bernd Leno’s decisive double strike in stoppage time of normal time.

After Emile Smith Rowe’s winner against the Magpies, some tough tasks awaited the Gunners in the next round, with Southampton among the teams Arsenal would have preferred to avoid.

They still had to come out on top against Shrewsbury Town, but that was just a formality if truth be told.

Saturday’s early kickoff is followed just three days later by another trip south for a Premier League clash, and neither game has Arsenal looking at a sure win.
