The late retired Commissioner of Police was said to have given up the ghost at about 10 am today, Saturday, January 30, 2021, at the Isolation Center in the Olodo area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
It was reported that the retired Commissioner of Police had been lodged at the COVID-19 Isolation Center since January 24 and died while receiving treatment.
It was further learned that his body was still in the isolation centre as at the time of filling this report.
Onashile was reportedly a cousin of Chief Mike Adenuga, chairman of the Globacom Telecommunications Network.
The late retired CP. Onasile was a trained biochemist at the University of Ibadan until his retirement, when he joined the Nigeria Police Force.
Onasile had a master’s degree in forensics and food contaminant analysis from the same institution, with the merit of being an expert in police fingerprinting.
He was a Hubert Humphrey Scholar at the John Hopkins University Drug Program in Baltimore, USA, and also an experienced man who trained and worked at the New York Police Department and the Israeli Police Crime Laboratory in Jerusalem.
Before his retirement, he served as Commissioner of Police in Abia and Oyo States, Ekiti and Lagos and has published a number of books and monographs.
He was the owner of a relaxation center for elderly men and women called Senior Citizens Club located at Secretariat and Total Garden Road in Ibadan.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olugbenga Fadeyi, confirmed the story about the death of the retired police commissioner.
