Lenasia Shootout: Two ATM Bombing Suspects Killed

SAPS

Two armed suspects were fatally shot, and others injured during a police shootout in Lenasia.

The operation, led by Crime Intelligence and multiple law enforcement units, targeted a syndicate involved in ATM bombings and other serious crimes across Gauteng and neighboring provinces.

Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection, Lt. General Shadrack Sibiya, and senior SAPS officials are on-site and will provide further updates.

The crime scene remains active as investigations continue.

This incident follows rising concerns over crime in Lenasia. In January, 27-year-old Ashwin Mouwers was fatally shot outside the Lenasia Magistrate’s Court before testifying in a 2021 murder case from Eldorado Park, highlighting ongoing calls for stronger witness protection.
