Nigerian governors propose N380/liter and immediate removal of fuel subsidy to save the country’s crippling economy.

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum has recommended a petrol price between N408.5 and N380 per liter as well as the immediate removal of fuel subsidy to save the country’s crippling economy.

Chairman of the NGF Committee on Petrol Subsidy and Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, said this while presenting the report during a virtual meeting of the forum on Wednesday.

He said the current subsidy system is unsustainable because smugglers and illegal markets in neighboring African countries are the beneficiaries.
