Ayra Starr’s seat on the 2022 Headies Nomination list was rumoured to have been purchased by Don Jazzy, head of Mavin Records.

Ayra Starr has received eight nominations for the 2022 Headies Awards, which were announced today.

Artists such as Afrobeats sensation Wizkid and Sonic-Artist Brymo both received nine nominations, while Ayra Starr received eight nominations, and Sonic-Artist Brymo received six nominations.

Best R&B track, Best Vocal Performance (Female), best Collaboration, best Afrobeat record of the year and Headies Viewers Choice were all nominated for Ayra.

However, her nominations sparked controversy on Twitter, where some claimed that Don Jazzy paid for them.

However, a tweep took to Twitter to slam those saying this, claiming that if Don Jazzy actually bought her the nominations, she would have appeared in the Female Artist of the Year category.

“This idea of Don jazzy Don buy Headies is dumb asF Sha.. Like you people want to believe a narrative so bad

Don Baba J quoted the tweet in agreement and described the individuals peddling these rumours as ‘mumu’ and telling his fan to leave them to display their stupidity.

He wrote;
