A member of the civilian JTF, a policeman, and another person were reportedly gunned down by terrorists along the Maiduguri-Magumeri road in northeastern Nigeria.
Sources revealed that the insurgents stationed three armed trucks between Chabol and Magumeri and then fired on the military base in the area.
“After driving away the military, they attacked the police checkpoint where they burned down a police vehicle and took one away. There are now three bodies at the site. A CJTF, a police officer and another civilian.” The source said.
Reports have it that the new CDS Lt. Gen. Lucky Irabor is leading other service chiefs and top military officers to Maiduguri as they begin their task in the ongoing military clearing of terrorist elements in the region.
Recall that the Maiduguri, Magumeri road is where terrorists attacked exploration workers and staff of the University of Maiduguri killing 69 people in July 2017.
There is speculation that the incident may be part of the attacks by Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau spoke about in ten-minute audio released last week.
