Police forces nab middle-aged man who allegedly killed wife and child with a shovel in Oufe Nza village, Ozubulu

… Vigilante wounded during a rescue attempt

On 26/1/2021 at about 7:45 pm, officers of Ozubulu Police Station arrested a 28-year-old Chukwuemeka Obijofa of Ofufe Nza village in Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State.

The suspect was said to have run amok under circumstances yet to be ascertained and attacked his wife, one Chisom Chukwuemeka, ‘f’, aged 26, and his own child, named Amanda Chukwuemeka, ‘m’, aged 4, both of the same address, on the head with a shovel.

The suspect also used the same object and wounded a vigilante who tried to rescue the victims.

Meanwhile, police officers visited the scene and took the victims to the joint hospital in Ozubulu for medical attention, where the two victims were pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor.

The injured security guard is currently receiving treatment while the bodies of the victims were taken to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP John B. Abang, FDC, has directed the DPO to refer the case to the State CID, Awka, for a discreet investigation to ascertain the actual cause of the incident.
