Barcelona striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed Mikel Arteta contacted him ahead of his acrimonious exit from Arsenal.
Aubameyang signed for the LaLiga giants in the January window as a free agent after his contract with the Gunners was terminated.
Before then, the 32-year-old was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy following a disciplinary breach, which also resulted in him being frozen out by Arteta.
Aubameyang, who scored 92 goals for Arsenal, has hit the ground running at Barca and scored a hat-trick on his first league start on Sunday in a 4-2 victory over Valencia.
Despite his frosty relationship with Arteta towards the end of his four-year stint at the Emirates, Aubameyang revealed the Spaniard did wish him luck ahead of his move to Camp Nou.
When asked whether Arteta spoke to him before he left for Spain, Aubameyang told Mundo Deportivo: “Yes, Arteta wished me luck at Barca.”
He added: “Some of the things we did with Arteta are similar.
“I still have to get used to it but I am eager to learn. When I see how the boys play I want to do the same.”
