What to expect from Cruz SA fashion week

In the fashion world, fashion week is one of the most exciting events on the calendar, and SA fashion week is set to take the fashion world by storm this October. With Cruz set to return as the event’s sponsor, this year promises bigger and better in every aspect after unveiling a new venue in Melrose Arch.

The Cruz opening party will be kicking things off and setting the mood for designers, models and everyone in between. Fashion A-listers from every corner will be partying the night away, before getting into the business that brought them to the Melrose Arch.

This year, Cruz has highlighted three designers who will be making an impression on the fashion world by showcasing their versatile collections. With 13 shows set to take place over three days, attendees can expect approximately 40 exhilarating shows that cater to styles of all kinds.

Thabo Makhethe

Popular for their distinctive patterns that are inspired by the Basotho culture, Thabo is bringing something different this year with the Dikeledi collection. The collection features two versatile garments designed to transfer, transform, and transcend into more than ten distinct looks, showcasing Makhetha’s innovative approach to fashion design.

 

Fikile Sokhulu 

FIKILE SOKHULU is a brand that focuses on womenswear, “The aesthetics of the brand are influenced by a high standard of craftsmanship with an intention to create feminine clothing. The brand embraces that a garment can play with commercially as well as reference to art,” explains the Fashion Week website.

Amanda Laird Cherry 

With previous experience at The Design Indaba, Menswear Week, London Fashion Week expo and South African Fashion Week, Amanda Laird Cherry is set to showcase their simple and classic collection this cycle.

To close things off, Mr Price will be bidding farewell to Fashion Week in style with the Mr. Price Scouting Menswear Competition where up-and-coming talents will be competing for a grand prize of R50 000. Upcoming designers such as 2023 Scouting Menswear Competition winner, Sinchu and Thobey Cooper will also be given an opportunity to showcase their sustainable fashion collections.
